Nexus 5 Release Date Rumors

The cat is officially out of the bag. While there was some initial speculation regarding whether or not Google was in fact working on a new Nexus 5, it’s safe to say the answer is now yes. Dozens of reports have appeared over the past few months indicating that a new 2015 edition Nexus 5 is being produced. This comes as welcomed news to the thousands of Nexus 6 users who were less-than-pleased with the device’s lackluster performance. So, when will see Google’s newest flagship smartphone available for sale?

Unfortunately, this is a question that remains unanswered at this time. We’ve seen numerous reports of possible specs for the 2015 Nexus 5, but we haven’t seen an official release date. With that said, several “unofficial” release dates have been announced, the most plausible being October or November of this year.

With October just a few months away, some people may turn their heads at the thought of Google finishing, and releasing, its highly anticipated Nexus 5 reboot by this time. However, it makes sense for several different reasons. If you look back at the history of Google’s previous Nexus smartphones, you’ll notice an all-too-familiar pattern: Google releases a new Nexus smartphone on average once per year, with the most recent being the Nexus 6 that was launched last October.

The tech enthusiast website also confirmed that an October or November 2015 release date is very likely. While it didn’t reveal its sources, the site claims this information is based on “most recent leak”

Right now, it seems it’s in the hands of LG and Huawei and they are working on two different versions of the 2015 Nexus phone. As for the release date, based on the most recent leak, expect either an October or November 2015 release,” wrote the folks at TechGadgetCentral.com.

Of course, this is just a rumored release date and is subject to change without given notice. If Google runs into production or development problems, it could get pushed even further back, possibly not being released until next year.

On a side note, several reports have hinted towards what the specs will be for the new Nexus 5. The general consensus is that Google will release not one but two different versions of the 2015 Nexus 5: one will be made by LG, whereas the second will be made Huawei. Some of the rumored specs include a quad HD AMOLED display ranging between 5.5-5.7 inches in diameter, 4GB of random access memory (RAM), an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, a removable 4,000 mAh battery, a 20-megapixel primary camera, a 13-megapixel secondary “selfie” camera, a heart rate sensor, 32/64GB of internal storage, and a microSD card slot for storage expansion.

What’s the difference between the LG and Huawei Nexus 5? We still don’t know at this time, but rumors indicate the LG version will be a premium handset with a higher price tag and possibly better specs, whereas the Huawei will have a lower price tag.
